Unit Structure and assessment

Students can demonstrate their achievement of the generic attributes and learned skills as follows.

Assessment Percentages:

Laboratory participation                                     4%  (4 x 1%)

Machines Labs Report                                       10%

Power Labs Report                                           10%

Midterm Test on Machines                                10%*

Final Examination; Machines part                       28%

Final Examination; Power Systems part             38%

Each portion of the assessment as listed above (except lab participation) will be normalized individually so that the average falls between 65% and 70%.  Students may refer to the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics policy on assessment at:

http://www.ecm.uwa.edu.au/for/staff/pol/assess

*Anyone who misses the midterm test for legitimate reasons (as determined by the Lecturer or the sub-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Computing) will have their midterm assessment percentage added to the machines part of their final exam assessment percentage (i.e. their final exam will be worth 76%, 38% for the machines part, and 38% for the power systems part).  Anyone who misses the midterm test without a legitimate reason (as determined by the Lecturer or the sub-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Computing) will receive a mark of zero.
