This unit covers digital systems and switching networks; Boolean algebra, logic gates, combinational logic, minimisation; NAND/NOR implementations; multi-level gate networks, digital integrated circuits, multiplexers, decoders, programmable logic devices; flip-flops, counters, shift registers; clocked sequential circuits, state diagrams, state assignment, circuit implementation; computer organisation, microprocessors and microcontrollers; microprocessor architecture; assembly programming; memory systems; programmed input/output (I/O), interrupts; address decoding; I/O interfacing, parallel and serial I/O, communication protocols, A/D conversion.
