Western Power Scholarships Awards - 2009

At a ceremony conducted on the 20 May 2009 in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, 35 Western Power Scholarships of $2,000 each were awarded by Mr Phil Southwell of Western Power (Manager Strategy and Corporate Affairs).

The purpose of the Scholarships is to attract students to the electrical power engineering specialisation that Western Power is currently having difficulty recruiting due to the strong demand from the resources sector in WA for Engineers. Students receiving the Scholarships will be eligible to continue to receive the scholarship in each subsequent year provided they remain in the electrical power engineering stream. Although the students have no obligation to Western Power at the end of the programme, as part of the scholarship scheme, Western Power will be taking every opportunity to keep scholarship holders well appraised of the many opportunities with the organisation through special site visits and student events.
